I finally bought my dream camera, a Nikon D60, and have been playing with it ever since. I did a little photoshoot with Sebastian, Carl and myself and I love the results.

I can’t believe my baby is one month old already, it seems like only yesterday he was born and only last week I was still pregnant and complaining about him being overdue. But now that he is here I can’t imagine my life without him, he is my whole world. I love getting to know him and I love his cute facial expressions, I love the way he looks at me like I am the best thing in the world. I love everything about being a mother-I wish someone told me sooner how great it is. He is such a great baby, really alert and hardly cries.

Having a baby around means I hardly get time to do any craft or sewing and I spend most of my free time trying to catch up on sleep, but he is getting better at sleeping longer I will be back in full swing soon. I discovered a new scrapbook store in my city and it is awesome. I spent a lot of money there and I can’t wait to do some craft. I have so far managed to squeeze in a little time to do some tiny little chipboard houses. They are so adorable I love the idea, I will post some pictures when I finish the set (3 down, 7 to go). I have so many tutorial ideas in my head too, so when I get a chance I will write them up.

I’ve also decided to invest in a shiny new DSLR camera. I have a budget and I know what I want but I can’t find it anywhere for a decent price, I feel like everywhere I go they are trying to rip me off. One guy even tried to tell me the camera has been discontinued and been replaced with the (more expensive) upgraded model. My partner keeps telling me to just buy one, it doesn’t matter the cost-but I have never bought myself a solitary item worth over $500, so somehow I feel guilty spending more than that on one item. But I know a new camera will definitely be worth it, and better than my crappy Optio 60. Plus I want to take as many pictures of Sebastian as I can before he grows up too quick.

I just love staring at my cute little boy, his plump little lips are my favourite.

Sebastian Anthony Jon finally decided to enter the world, 8 days late, on the 16th August at 23:23pm. He weighed 8lbs8′ and 51 cms long. The labour was very long (20 hours) and stressful but the end result is totally worth it.

I fall more in love with him as every day passes, and I love getting to know him. I love being a mum, I have never been more proud.

Now for some much needed rest. I apologise in advance for the lack of blogging that comes with being a new mother.

I added some free fonts that I made over a year ago for my other blog You can download and install these fonts then use them in Photoshop or other imaging program (or in Word) and do what you want with them. Hopefully soon I will make some more fonts.

My craft space

I know I said I would post pictures the next day of my new craft space, but I just couldn’t be bothered. I really don’t even have an excuse-the baby still hasn’t arrived. I am 3 days overdue now and so sick of waiting. I have tried every old wives tale known to help induce labour but with no results. He will come when he’s ready!

Anyway this is my little corner of the house, my crafting/designing space. I cannot wait until the day I have my own art and craft room, but for now this will do.

The drawers, spice jars and jewellery tree are from Ikea. I just love that store.

I love my little pin cushion jar that I made from a tiny jam jar.

Since taking these photos 5 days ago, the space has grown somewhat and to the left of the sewing machine I have added some more storage for all my material, wools and scrapbooking supplies. I have been reluctant to use my camera for anything though as it is empty and fully charged packed away in my hospital bag ready for the bub. I am so paranoid of getting no pictures of his arrival that I have been checking the batteries once a week and recharging them just in case (as well as a spare pair).

I’ve been meaning to post this for a few days, but time just gets away from me so fast. Three more days until my baby is due. I was beginning to think he may be unfashionably late and make me wait another few weeks (as my Doctor has said will probably happen because it is my first pregnancy) but my braxton hicks have been getting stronger and more frequent I know he is coming soon. Well at least I hope so, I am so over being pregnant right now and can’t wait to hold my son!

Last weekend I found this cool revolving spice rack in an Op Shop for only $5.00 and decided to fancy it up for my beads and buttons.

It had ugly sticker labels on it so I washed them and peeled them off, then I cut strips of pretty scrapbook paper for the lids.

I covered the lids in the pretty paper, then I attempted to cover the actual stand. I am planning to later spray paint it white, but for now it has some paper on it disguising the flaws.

The fun part was sorting through my button collection into colours. I love the end result.

Since I don’t have a craft room of my own (I did, but long-story-short; the ceiling collapsed and I now craft at the dining table) all my craft stuff has been swamping the table in a huge mess. I went to Ikea yesterday and bought some little wooden drawers and glass jars and attempted to make some sense of my mess and make a cute enough space to craft at. I will blog about that tomorrow when I finish arranging and organising everything, that is if I don’t go into labour by then.

I haven’t done anything crafty for a few days, mostly just been reading craft blogs, eating and sleeping. I’m using all the time I can now to get some much needed sleep before the bub arrives (due in 10 days). SO rather than not blog for days I thought I would compile a list of some of my favourite links I have come across the past week. Enjoy!

Free Scrapbook Fonts – Gorgeous fonts you can download and use in your digital scrapbooking, or print out some cute journalling for your scrapbooking pages. This reminds me to upload some of the fonts I have made for free download.

Button Brooch Tutorial – I love these little button brooches, and they are super easy to make. I don’t know if I personally would wear it as a brooch, but I can definitely see myself making pendants or scrapbook embellishments from this idea.

Daisy-Chain Scarf – I have been teaching myself to crochet. I have tried countless times to learn to knit, but always fail because I just don’t get it. With crochet I found it much easier, so far I know how to do a chain stitch and single and double crochet stitch. I still need to learn more as I find the terminology confusing. When I become a good crocheter I plan to make this scarf, it is sooo adorable.

Felt Flower Pins – These are so bright and funky how can you not like them. Super easy to do and a fun project for the kids. These brooches would look great pinned onto an equally bright and funky bag.

Mini Paper Bag Scrapbook – I love this, and wish I had made one at the start of my pregnancy. I could still do it but I hardly have time. Such a thoughtful gift.

Making Beads From Scrap Plastic – I was planning to write my own tutorial version of this but why should I when there are plenty of tutorials out there. I will soon post my own beaded creations using this tutorial.

I might make this crafty links a regular feature on my blog as it is perfect for those craft-free dry days when I have nothing to blog about.

I found a great bargain last week of 10 patterned fat quarters for the price of 5. I grabbed a bunch of cute baby ones, a few classic black and white ones, some Disney ones and this, the most gorgeous puppy dog pattern. I love the cute little doggies and the first thing I thought was to make something for my sisters 10 month old son because he has a puppy. I love this little bib and the stuffed applique doggy.

Now I am going to make a bunch of bibs for my baby with the other material.

I have been adding new paper sets to my freebies page, the most recent is Floral Pajamas, which were inspired by my pair of PJ’s hence the name. Happy paper-crafting.
